Analysis of your workload
Only the knowledge of your workload enables you to take the appropriate measures to optimize your costs. We support you with our analysis to answer the following question: which workload arises at which time and how does it affect license costs?
Your expectations
"Everything anytime anywhere" is an SLA attempt, which is not optimal from a license cost perspective. We check with you, whether the workload is running on the correct instance or whether shifting could make sense. We also check with you, if each service needs full capacity. Together with you we will move the requirement "anytime" where inevitably. For the optimization of the licence costs we will fix with you which workload should be processed where.
If everything has changed from "everythin anytime anywhere" to "the relevant at the time needed at the right place", we can define the appropiate measures. Your needs are unique, therefore, no standard procedure applies, possible measures depent on your circumstances.
System management
Usage of speciality engines for different workload
The use of speciality engines is cost-neutral. With our procedure you can extend the use of these processors without injuring licence terms. Only available interfaces are used. The conversion is possible without any adaptations on our applications, it results in lower licence costs.
Licence-technical collection of several systems to a unit
For licence-technical reasons it can help to set up several systems to one license system. With our analyses and procedures a rearrangement of the logical systems is possible and licence costs can be saved.
Dynamic resource allocation to avoid cost relevant load peaks
A control of the whole workload on your surroundings is mostly not possible, this results in load peaks and therefore higher license charges. Specific measures can smooth these charges partly, the immediate and automated reaction before the occurrence of a load peak is more important, nevertheless. With our procedure you will be able to react dynamically to a foreseeable load peak by the reduction of the available resources. The reduction is parameter controlled and can consider thus your SLA. Optimize the response time of repetitive database queries
The solution is based on the application of the software liable to costs QuickSelect for DB2 of Log-On. Returning queries DB2 are answered directly from the QuickSelect cache and with it, the more expensive DB2 access is superfluous. No application adaptations are necessary and data integrity is absolutely guaranteed. The solution is quickly implemented and allows substantial savings.
- QuickSelect saves CPU and I/Os by storing the query and the resultset of returning DB2 queries.
- Quickselect assures data integrity with the help of build in table update sensivity.
